WHAT IS ORTHOGNATIC SURGERY?

Orthognathic surgery is a general term that describes surgeries related to the correction of disorders in the facial bones

IN WHICH CASES CAN ORTOGNATIC SURGERY BE APPLIED?

When the lower jaw is on the right side, left side, front, and back,
In cases where some or all of the lower jaw is underdeveloped,
In cases where the upper jaw is on the right side or left side, in front, behind,
Lack of development in the upper jaw,
The teeth in the lower jaw and upper jaw do not match, do not touch (open bite),
If the tip of the chin is small or large, ahead or behind, and in situations,
If the cheekbones are larger, smaller, front or back than usual,
Distortion of the shape and structure of the jaws due to tumor or accident,
In cases where there is no mismatch between the lower jaw and upper jaw, bite disorder-malocclusion occurs. Problems in the teeth and skeletal structure are also reflected in facial aesthetics. The problem here is both functional and aesthetic.

IS WIRE TREATMENT REQUIRED BEFORE OR AFTER?

Orthognathic treatment is divided into two as wire treatment and surgical procedure. The patient may also need to undergo short-term wire treatment after surgery. In some cases, it is indicated to switch to surgical treatment without preoperative wire treatment. In such cases, the patient must enter the surgery by wearing a bracket (fixed braces).
